HILAND HAWKS
Last season: 27-1, 14-0 IVC — league champion, district champion, regional champion.
Head coach: Dave Schlabach, 30th season (661-98 at Hiland/overall).
Returning letterwinners (8): Morgan Yoder, Zoe Miller, Brynn Mullet, Kyli Horn, Kelsey Swihart, Aila Miller, Jenna Troyer and Tegan Harris
Promising newcomers: Ashley Mullet and Mallory Stutzman.
Letterwinners lost (3): Kendra Shetler, Krista Troyer, Shelby Miller.
Team strengths: “Our seniors are the most talented class we’ve every had.”
Team weaknesses: Most high school teams have plenty of weaknesses. This Hiland team isn't like most high school teams.
Player to watch: Zoe Miller. The Bowling Green-bound post player can play inside and out, giving the Hawks an elite half-court offensive option, even though normally they'll be racking up points in transition with their deadly press. Miller is almost a lock for a third-straight first-team All-Ohio nod.
Outlook: It's state championship or bust for Hiland, boasting a senior class Schlabach calls the best he's ever had in 30 years of coaching the Hawks. Most nights, the Hawks will win by 50 points, if not much more.
