State-ranked Hiland opened postseason play with a convincing 66-15 win over visiting Inter-Valley Conference foe Newcomerstown in a Division III high school sectional girls basketball semifinal at the Reese Center in Berlin Wednesday night.

The Hawks, ranked No. 4 in Ohio, improved to 21-2. They will host No. 19 Coshocton (10-12) Saturday at 2 p.m. for a sectional title.

Zoe Miller tossed in 14 points and Kelsey Swihart added 11 as 11 Hawks scored.

Hiland jumped out to a 22-3 lead after the first quarter en route to victory.

Christina Miller topped the Trojans, who ended their season 2-21, with seven points. Maddie Fish and Taylor Lafferty added three apiece.
