Stutzman's huge night lifts Hiland

Hiland junior Jena Stutzman became the seventh player in the history of the Hawks' storied basketball program to reach 1,000 points for her career on Saturday, leading the Hawks to a lopsided win over Newcomerstown.

Stutzman eclipsed the lofty mark in grand fashion, leading the Hawks with a career-best 34 points, outscoring the Trojans all by herself.  She also added five rebounds and three assists in the win.

But while Stutzman's offense made the headlines, it was the Hawks' defense that played key, limiting the Trojans to quarter scores of 3, 2, 5 and 10 points.

Lydia Miller joined Stutzman scoring in double figures with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Layla Miller dropped in 11 points, Karli Mast led the Hawks with six assists.
