Hiland tops TV to cap IVC Showcase in girls basketball

Zoe Miller scored 20 points and surpassed the 1,000-point plateau for her career as the top-ranked Hiland girls basketball team rolled to an 81-23 win over Tusky Valley to cap the third annual Inter-Valley Conference Showcase, at the Reese Center in Berlin on Saturday.

Miller, whose 1,000th point came during the third quarter, also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.

Hiland has now won 25 consecutive IVC Championships and has a 122-1 IVC record since the 2012-2013 season. Hiland has won 93 consecutive IVC games as the Hawks last IVC loss was 2,194 days ago on Feb. 3, 2014, against rival Garaway.

The Hawks are champions of the IVC South Division with a 14-0 record and improved to 19-1 overall this season. The Hawks led 13-8 after the opening quarter, and took control with a 39-16 advantage at halftime. Heading into the final period, Hiland led 59-19. The Hawks limited Tusky Valley to a total of seven points in the second half while scoring 42 points themselves.

Morgan Yoder added 17 and Brynn Mullet chipped in 12 for the winners.

Hiland made it a season sweep as the Hawks won at Tusky Valley 55-44 earlier this season.

The Trojans (17-5), champions of the IVC North Division, got eight points from Arora Levengood, six from Ali Shane and five from Abbey Dillon.
