Hiland takes down Tusky Valley in IVC girls basketball showdown

ZOARVILLE A big Inter-Valley Conference girls basketball showdown went Hiland’s way Saturday.

Zoe Miller scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Hiland recorded a 55-44 IVC crossover win over host Tusky Valley.

The Hawks, representing the IVC South Division, improved to 9-0, while the Trojans, repping the IVC North, dropped to 10-2.

Hiland led 16-7 after the opening quarter, 29-18 at the half and 46-28 going to the final frame.

Kendra Shetler followed Miller with eight points, while Kelsey Swihart and Kyli Horn each added seven for the winners.

Ali Shane paced Tusky Valley with 16 points and Arora Levengood added 10.

Hiland made 21 of 48 action shots and 6 of 10 free throws, while Tusky Valley made 14 of 31 actoon shots and 10 of 16 free throws.

The Hawks outrebounded the Trojans 28-23 with Miller leading the way with her 11. Shane collected eight caroms to pace TV.

Tusky Valley turned the ball over 15 times compared with eight for Hiland.

The two teams could meet in a rematch in the IVC Showcase slated for Saturday, Feb. 8
