Kettering Fairmont defeated Hiland in the Journey to the Tourney in the Hawks’ season opener at Lakota West.

Kennedy Schlabach scored 14 points and Tiffany Weaver added 11 for Hiland, who won the 2017 Division IV state title and is embarking on a repeat bid.

Kettering led 5-3 after the opening quarter, 22-12 at the half and 30-29 going to the final frame.

Madison Bartley led Fairmont with 17 points, including a 9-of-11 showing from the line, and Mali Morgan-Elliott added 10.
