For Hiland junior center Tiffany Weaver and senior swing guard Morgan McMillen, it is almost as though they are making up for lost time.

The recipients of their wrath have been whatever opponents stand between the Lady Hawks and winning tournament basketball games to advance to what Hiland hopes will be a lengthy tournament run.

The two star players are coming off a pair of fairly serious injuries this year, and if their recent post-season performances say anything, it is that they are both back at prime-time, peak performance levels.

Hiland has destroyed both of its sectional tournament opponents, meaning that for the 24th straight season the Lady Hawks have won a sectional title, and McMillen and Weaver have both been a big part of that early tournament success.

Versus Coshocton in the sectional opener, the top-seeded Lady Hawks pounded their way to an 81-7 victory that saw them hold the Redskins scoreless over the two middle periods. Both McMillen and Weaver chalked up 18 points in the win with Weaver going 8-of-9 from the floor. Kennedy Schlabach added a dozen assists as she fed the entire team all night long, and Hiland forced Coshocton into 44 turnovers. That included 11 steals for McMillen and seven for Schlabach. From a rebounding perspective, Hiland had few chances on the defensive glass as the Redskins produced just 15 total shots on the night. Weaver led the way on the glass with five boards while Zoe Miller, Krista Troyer and Madison Yoder all collected four apiece. Sara Keim added eight points, Kelsey Swihart scored seven, Zoe Miller and Schlabach both produced six points, Kim Miller added five, and Troyer and Madison Yoder each scored four.

In the sectional championship game, Hiland used its trademark defense and loaded up on offense to carve out a 95-17 victory.

In the win Weaver kept shooting the lights out, making 10-of-12 action shots on her way to a 22-point night. Schlabach had a double-double, pouring in 20 points while dishing out 10 assists. Plus she knocked down four triples on the night to go with seven steals. McMillen added 16 points to go with six steals while Zoe Miller continued to have a fantastic freshman campaign, adding 10 points and a game-high seven rebounds.

Keim had a nice all-around performance with six points, five assists and five steals while Madison Yoder added eight points, Swihart tacked on six points and Kendra Shetler scored five points.

Hiland shared the ball all night long, dishing out an impressive 29 assists while committing just seven turnovers. Meanwhile they forced the Generals into 39 miscues while limiting Ridgewood to just 20 total action shots on the night.

The win moved Hiland along toward a potential rematch with Garaway in the district finals. However, before those two teams meet for the third time this season, they will have to win one more game. Hiland will face a talented team in Buckeye Trail on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Claymont High School in Uhrichsville while Garaway will travel to Meadowbrook High School in Byesville to square off with the number-three-seed Bellaire on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
