Hiland girls win another IVC basketball title

Six players scored in double figures as state-ranked Hiland clinched its 22nd straight Inter-Valley Conference girls basketball championship and 28th overall with a 103-45 win over visiting Tuscarawas Central Catholic at the Reese Center near Berlin Wednesday night.

The Hawks, ranked No. 1 in Ohio in Division IV improved to 20-1 overall and 15-0 in the league heading into its regular season finale with Garaway on Saturday.

Central dropped to 10-11, 6-9.

Morgan McMillen led the winners with 26 points as she was 11 of 12 from the field and Sara Keim added 15, while Kennedy Schlabach tallied 14. Tiffany Weaver, Angela Troyer and Melissa Hostetler each added 12.

The Hawks sank 39 of 75 action shots and 12 of 15 free throws.

Hiland led 28-2 after the opening eight minutes and was never threatened.

Alexis Gilland led Central with 19 points and Brooke Beamer added 15.
