Hiland beats Malvern in IVC battle

Kennedy Schlabach poured in 23 points to lead state-ranked Hiland as the Hawks pulled away from host Malvern in the second half for a 63-44 Inter-Valley Conference girls basketball victory Wednesday night.

Morgan McMillen scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Hiland, while Sara Keim and Angela Troyer each added 10 points.

Hiland, ranked No. 1 in the state in Division IV, improved to 18-1, 12-0. The Hawks have won 47 straight IVC games.

The Hawks led 19-12 after the opening quarter and 33-28 at the half before taking a 49-34 lead into the final frame.

Malvern slipped to 15-4 and 11-3. Kelsi Hulit topped the Hornets with 27 points and nine rebounds.
