Kennedy Schlabach hits 1,000-point plateau in Hiland girls win over Carrollton

Junior Kennedy Schlabach became the 11th player in Hawks history to reach 1,000 points as state-ranked Hiland rolled to a 71-36 non-conference girls basketball win over visiting Carrollton at the Reese Center in Berlin Monday night.

Schlabach was 5 of 8 from 3-point land en route to a game-high 21 points. Hiland, ranked No. 1 in Ohio in Division IV, improved to 17-1 on the season.

Morgan McMillen added 17 points, and Angela Troyer chipped in 12 for the winners.

Carrollton, who dropped to 4-13, got 11 from Mikayla Poole.

Carrollton led 3-0 at the start, but Hiland ripped off 18 in a row for an 18-3 lead after one quarter of play.

The Hawks, who sank 25 of 53 shots overall and 10 of 21 from long distance, were up 33-16 at the half and 55-25 going to the final frame.
