Hiland graduate Michelle (Ling) Mishler was inducted into the Malone University Athletics Hall of Fame on February 13, 2016.

Mishler, a 2005 Malone graduate (Intervention Specialist, Early Childhood Education) was a four-year letter winner for the Pioneer women’s basketball team. She is also a 2001 graduate of Berlin Hiland High School and earned a Master’s degree in Education (Reading & Literacy) from Walden University in 2010.

Mishler averaged an impressive 18.0 points per game over her four seasons at Malone, finishing second on the Pioneers’ all-time scoring list with 2,140 points. Notably, Mishler and all-time leading scorer Gloria (Blanks) Dingle are the only players in Malone women’s basketball history to eclipse the 2000-point milestone. In addition, Mishler is the Pioneers’ all-time leader in three-pointers made (313) and three-point attempts (826) and is ranked third on the program’s all-time lists for both career assists (385) and steals (278).

As a freshman in 2001-2002, Mishler helped the Pioneers make the program’s first-ever appearance at the NAIA National Tournament as the squad ended the year with a 24-7 overall mark. She set a Malone single-season record with 86 three-pointers that year while also earning All-AMC Freshmen Team accolades. Over the course of her Pioneer career, Mishler was a three-time All-AMC First Team honoree and a three-time NCCAA All-East Region selection. She also earned NCCAA All-America accolades three different times, collecting Honorable Mention recognition as a sophomore, Second Team honors as a junior and the First Team All-America award as a senior.

Mishler also excelled academically while at Malone, receiving NAIA and NCCAA Scholar Athlete recognition following both the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons.

Mishler currently works as an Intervention Specialist with second and third-grade students at Tiffin City Schools in Tiffin, Ohio. She is married to Jason, a 2005 Malone graduate who played for the Pioneer men’s basketball team and served as the head coach of Malone’s women’s basketball team from 2011-15. The couple and their three children, Perryn (5), Jalen (3), and Jase (1), reside in Tiffin.
