The Hiland Hawks improved to a perfect 4-0, 3-0 on the season with a huge 53-40 win over the visiting defending state champion West Holmes Knights on Saturday night.

The win by the Hawks snapped the Knights’ 33-game winning streak.

The Hawks jumped out to an early 9-0 behind a trio of three-pointers before the Knights made a charge in the second quarter when the Knights’ Hannah Clark’s triple to end the half made the score 21-18 in favor of the Hawks.

Hiland slowly pulled away in the second half as the Hawks outscored the Knights 15-9 to take a 36-27 lead and then put the game away with a 17-13 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Megan Beachy paced the Hawks with 10 points, while Rachel Horn added nine points on 3-of-3 shooting behind the arc.

Alex Starr had a double-double to lead the Knights with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
