It was all Hiland and them some against Strasburg in The Reese Center on Saturday, Dec. 6.

The visiting Tigers felt the wrath of the Lady Hawks who flew to a huge lead in the first quarter and cruised to the rout, 78-19.

While dominating in the scoring column, Hiland also ruled on the glass. The Lady Hawks out rebounded Strasburg 36 to 12 and wrecked the offensive glass for 24 rebounds.

The Lady Hawks also had 25 steals in their second game of the season, Schlabach leading the team with four. Alex Troyer, Angela Troyer and Miller all had three steals for the Hawks who got several uncontested layups while opening up the gaping lead.

In the passing game, the Lady Hawks had 16 assist to Strasburg’s zero. The Tigers struggled to get the ball up the floor and the Lady Hawks had easy passes around the rim for simple scores.

After one quarter the Hawks led 22-3 as Miller was the catalyst in the first period leading the Lady Hawks with seven points.

At the break Hiland lead 45-10 as it was Beachy’s turn to help the Hawks create the massive advantage. Beachy stroked a three and hit two from close in to help Hiland put the game away early and then they pulled off their full-court pressure.

Hiland held Strasburg to just nine second half points solidifying their dominance.

The Lady Hawks move to 2-0 on the year heading into a big week where they’ll take on Malvern and West Holmes and then follow up that with a epic showdown against Garaway.
