Lady Hawks get tight IVC victory over Malvern

The Malvern Lady Hornets led at halftime 22-21 over the Div. IV number three team in the State, the Hiland Lady Hawks.

Hiland then outscored the Lady Hornets 20-14 in the third stanza and 17-15 in the fourth to keep its record perfect overall and in the IVC with a 58-51 win Saturday afternoon Jan 24. The Hawks are now 15-0 and 11-0 in the IVC.

Hiand senior Megan Beachy led all scorers with a game-high 21 points. Beachy also had seven rebounds and three steals in the victory. Helping out Beachy was sophomore Angela Troyer. The southpaw, Troyer, knocked in 16 points on 6-for-10 shooting.

Kennedy Schlabach had nine points and the hard-nosed Brittany Miller had eight points and five rebounds.

Malvern was led by Tara Tucci, who had 15 points. Sara Loomis and Hunter Martin each had 13 points for the Lady Hornets in the loss. Loomis led everybody on the glass with nine rebounds.

The Lady Hornets are 11-7 and 7-4 in the IVC.
