HAWKS CLINCH SHARE OF IVC

Another year, another title for the Hiland girls basketball team.

The Hawks romped past East Canton to clinch at least a share of the Inter-Valley Conference crown 54-19.

The Hawks (20-1, 15-0 IVC) left no doubt in this one as they jumped on the Wizards at the outset, leading 13-2 after one frame and 27-8 at intermission. Hiland's defense never rested the entire way, forcing 18 turnovers and allowing East Canton to shoot just 8 for 32 (25 percent) from the field.

Megan Beachy led the Hawks with 15 points, while Mackenzie Miller was Hiland's other double-digit scorer with 10. Kennedy Schlabach paced the attack with six assists.

The win marks the 20th consecutive year Hiland has won a share of the IVC. The Hawks can clinch the outright title with a win on Saturday at Ridgewood.
