Hiland rolls in opener

Toronto had quarters of 2, 4, 2 and 4 in losing by 70. However, it took some time for the Hawks to get going as they led on 11-2 after the first eight minutes of play. But, they outscored the Red Knights 25-4 in the second period to go up 36-6, and cruised from there.

Regina Hochstetler and McKenzie Miller outscored Toronto each by themselves, as Hochstetler followed up her 31-point game Monday with 21 Wednesday, while Miller added 20.

The Hawks forced the Red Knights into a whopping 48 turnovers, and won the rebounding battle 47-24.

Meagan Hall had eight rebounds to lead Hiland (13-8) in that department, while Emily Yoder and Regan Miller each dished out five assists.

The Hawks will now play eighth-ranked Bishop Rosecrans next Wednesday at Claymont, starting at 6 pm. Rosecrans beat Tuscarawas Central Catholic 72-30 in the other sectional semifinal at Claymont last night.
