Second-quarter surge lifts Lady Hawks

The Lady Hawks had a hard time finishing their possessions in the first quarter against visiting Ridgewood Saturday, December 5.

Midway through the second quarter, a switch clicked on and Hilary Weaver went wild, popping a pair of 3-pointers to ignite a 15-2 run to close out the first half, turning a tight contest into a 65-43 blowout of the Generals.

Weaver finished with a game-high 25 points, dropping four 3-point bombs of her eight attempts along the way.  The senior also dished out seven assists and came away with six steals to lead the Hiland charge.

Noelle Yoder pitched in 22 points, connecting on a pair of 3-pointers.  Yoder hit six-of-seven from the charity stripe.

Katelyn Stuckey also scored in double digits with 12 points and six rebounds, including four on the offensive end.  Stuckey hit all six of her free throw attempts.

Ridgewood hung right with the Lady Hawks through the first quarter, trailing 12-8 after the opening eight minutes of action.

Hiland got two points apiece from McKenzie Miller, Regan Miller and Jessica Stutzman to round out the offensive.

Hiland hit 22-of-51 shots from the field, including six-of-19 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Hawks committed 18 turnovers, while forcing Ridgewood into 23 miscues.

Courtney Babcock and Kayla Tedrick paced the Generals with 13 points apiece.
