Hiland routs Malvern 104-33

The Hiland girls basketball team scored, scored and when it was done scored some more in the season opener at Malvern Wednesday.

Eight different Hawks netted seven or more points as Hiland (1-0) crushed Malvern 104-33, scoring 31, 27 and 29 points in the first three quarters, respectively, before slowing it down for 17 in the final period.

Hilary Weaver scored 23 points, handed out nine assists and grabbed six steals, while Noelle Yoder swished five 3-pointers, scored 22 points and logged six rebounds, five assists and five steals to lead the Hawks.

Also scoring in double figures for Hiland, which made 40-of-79 field-goal attempts and enjoyed a 35-13 edge in turnovers, were Jessica Stutzman (15) and McKenzie Miller (11). Katelyn Stuckey added seven points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Hiland led 31-6 after one quarter and 58-16 at the intermission.
