Hiland adds another chapter to record books

Hiland girls basketball has been the picture of perfection all year, and Thursday night just proved to reinforce that fact all over again in one individual.  Senior Launa Hochstetler walked into the history books as the Hawks, breezed to another win on Senior Night.

Hochstetler, who came in needing just 18 points to pass 1,000 for her prep career, tossed in 25 of her game-high 33 points in the first quarter to accomplish the feat.  The senior standout wasn't finished re-writing Hiland history, though.  with one of her game-high eight assists, Hochstetler passed Julie Weaver to become the school's all-time leader in assists, and is now sitting just 26 steals shy of the Hawks record.

Fellow 1,000-point member junior Lindsay Stuckey tossed in 14 points and Lydia Miller netted 13.  Jena Stutzman added 11 and Katie Conn finished with five markers as the locals made it official in clinching the Inter-Valley Conference.

Hiland (19-0, 15-0) outrebounded Ridgewood 29-11 and was led by Stuckey with nine rebounds while handing out seven assists.  The locals also forced a 28-12 edge in turnovers in creating a 39-8 advantage in points off of turnovers.
